I found this Snapping Turtle on the side of the road just outside Middle Musquodoboit. Apparently the females will come up from the water in June and July to to excavate a nest with their strong legs and claws, and lay eggs. Or maybe this one was just enjoying the warm evening sun...

It was an oppressively hot day at the Moncton Zoo in New Brunswick. The animals were in hiding and we were sweltering and didn't make it even half way through. I didn't take many shots.
