Giant Yellow-Faced Ichneumon Wasp : Imagine my surprise when this scary looking insect sat down beside me in the garden! It's a female parasitic Giant Yellow-Faced Ichneumon Wasp. The 6+ inch 'stinger' is an ovipositor which she uses to drill into deadwood and deposit her eggs in or near an unsuspecting grub which her larvae then devour. The Moncton Zoo : It was an oppressively hot day at the Moncton Zoo in New Brunswick. The animals were in hiding and we were sweltering and didn't make it even half way through. I didn't take many shots.
